[20 November 2008]
A Scottish charity worker who ran a home for orphans in Albania has been jailed for 20 years after being found guilty of sexually abusing children.
David Brown, 57, founded the home in Tirana in Albania eight years ago. Brown, who denied the charges, was arrested in May 2006 and the orphanage was subsequently closed. Brown, originally from Edinburgh, will be deported on completion of his sentence. Two others who worked at the orphanage were charged with molesting children. Brown was also accused of overcrowding the orphanage and failing to stop others from abusing the children.
