Crimestoppers receives its one millionth actionable call
Crimestoppers received its one millionth actionable call in July, which was about a knife crime in Leicestershire. An actionable call means useful information that can be passed to the police which they can act on to make arrests and charges. This important milestone - which translates as 136 information logs being passed to the police every day - coincides with the charity's twentieth anniversary year.

Think like a burglar to secure your home
Ex-burglar Michael Fraser, star of BBC's 'To Catch a Thief' and 'Beat the Burglar' as well as Channel 4's 'One Last Job', tells Crimestoppers' readers how to think like a thief in order to prevent being victims of crime. He reveals the extent of what 'Beware of the dog' signs and calendars mean to a thief, and how burglars find out a lot about a victim before they even set foot in their home. The Mix youth event
The Mix is a new youth event that is taking place in Burgess Park in south London on Sunday 17 August. The Mix aims to bring the many talents of the young people of Southwark together to share the stage with the very best professional performers, and Crimestoppers are making sure they are a key part of the big day. Disguised as a fashion show, young people will take to the stage clothed in t-shirts and hooded tops, representing the number of young people who have been killed on the streets of London. With 20,000+ young people expected to attend, Crimestoppers are going
to use the event as a platform to get its message of anonymity out to
some of those who need it the most. Read about The Mix youth event

Bowling to beat crime
Throughout July, Crimestoppers teamed up with the Tenpin Bowling Proprietors Association (TBPA) to promote the charity through a '111' contest. Our Volunteer Boards have been working closely with their local bowling centres to encourage the public to call the charity's 0800 555 111 telephone number with information about crime, while bowlers who tallied 111 were entered into local finals.
